Do you like people? More importantly, do people like you? If you have natural charm and the ability to talk to people on just about any subject at all, you may have what it takes to enter one of many sales careers. Almost every company that sells a product or service needs a salesperson, and most employ an entire army of them. Salespeople often work on commission, so your salary will be just as good as you are at your job. The more you sell, the more money you'll make. (Of course, the opposite is also true. If you aren't a very good salesperson, you won't make much money at all.)
But, perhaps the best thing about sales careers is that it's like being paid to make friends. That's why it's important for you to be a person who likes other people and enjoys talking to them, getting to know them, finding out what it is that interests them, and most importantly, what it is that they need. You often don't have to go far to learn these things. They'll be happy to tell you what it is they need because that's why they're doing business with you in the first place.
It's impossible to list all the sales jobs that exist in the world today because there are far too many, but it's easy to break sales careers down into two different areas: sales to individuals and sales to businesses. (Sales to businesses are often classed as "B2B" - business to business - because it's your business selling something to someone else's business.) Individuals might want to buy houses (in which case they'd go to a real estate salesperson) or cars (in which case they'd go to a car salesperson). Businesses might want to buy these same things (except they'd be more likely to buy large buildings and fleets of cars), but they'll also have specialized sales needs and will tend to buy those things in bulk.
As you can guess, you're probably better off being in business-to-business sales careers because the amount of things being sold will be larger and your commission will be commensurately bigger. But, don't worry: B2B sales are not that different from sales to individuals. You still have to get know people at the company you're selling to, talk with them, and find out what they want to buy. In the course of such sales, friendships can be made - and millions of dollars worth of products can be sold.
