Programmer: Computer programmers are perhaps the most ubiquitous of computer professionals. If programmer is your choice of computer careers and you have the skills and education to back that choice up, you could make a lifetime career out of writing software. Many people find this to be exciting work and are surprised by how much talent they have for it. Programmers are needed everywhere from video game companies to software developers to almost every large business that you can find on a city map.
Systems analyst: A systems analyst troubleshoots problems with computer systems and puts computer networks together in configurations that are optimal for the corporations that use them. Of all computer careers, this one requires the most acute understanding of how computers work together, how they can be interconnected, and what software makes them work together best.
Information systems: Similarly to systems analysis, information systems is one of the computer careers in which the information systems expert works within a corporation to determine what the computer needs of that corporation are and how to best fulfill them. If you work in information systems, you’ll have a high-powered and highly paid job that could eventually advance you into management.
Software engineer: This is one of the advanced computer careers that requires a highly developed understanding of computer science on both theoretical and practical levels. A software engineer not only writes computer code but maintains code designed by other programmers and, in many cases, writes the most basic software, such as operating systems, that allows computers to run programs written by others.
Computer careers will keep you on the cutting edge of the professional world for the rest of your life. It is a field that is ever expanding and that will become even more important in the future than it is today.
